PRT Metal manufactures spur gears with modules ranging from M0.2 to M40 and outer diameters up to 3000 mm. Large-module gears above M16 are typically produced from 42CrMo or cast steel and are designed for heavy-duty industrial applications such as mining, cement processing, and large drive systems. Please submit your drawing for a manufacturing feasibility assessment.

We manufacture spur gears to DIN 5 through DIN 9 accuracy grades. Accuracy verification is performed using a dedicated gear measuring center that measures profile deviation, lead deviation, pitch error, and total composite error. A full gear inspection report is issued with every production batch as standard documentation.

PRT Metal offers three primary heat treatment processes:

  • Carburizing & Case Hardening — surface hardness up to 58–62 HRC, suitable for high-contact-stress gears
  • Induction Hardening — selective hardening of tooth flanks with minimal distortion
  • Quenching & Tempering (Q&T) — through-hardening for high-torque, heavy-load applications

Post heat treatment, gears are inspected for dimensional deviation, and re-grinding or honing is performed where required to restore DIN accuracy grade compliance.

Yes. While our standard material range includes 45# Steel, 40Cr, 42CrMo, 20CrMnTi, and Stainless Steel 304/316, we can source and process customer-specified material grades upon request. Full material mill certificates are provided with every order, and incoming raw material is verified against chemical composition requirements before entering production.

Standard lead times are 15–20 business days for prototype and sample orders, and 30–45 business days for production batches, depending on complexity, module size, and heat treatment requirements.
